- Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) is a powerful tool that scans a sample with a highly focused electron beam to produce a magnified image. The highly magnified images provide a powerful and effective micro analysis tool.
- Compared to light microscopy, SEM offers higher resolution (as good as 3.0 nm), greater depth of field, longer working distances and better surface sensitivity.
- A standard scanning electron microscope (SEM) is typically used for low-to-medium magnification (10-50,000×) imaging of conductive samples. A variable-pressure SEM (low vacuum or environmental) is used for non-conductive specimens like polymers and paint, and biological materials without applying a conductive coating to the specimen.
- High magnification imaging – up to 50,000x
- Examination of surface fractures
- Sample size up to 2” x 2”
- Top-down or cross-section imaging with nm resolution
- Live Real Time Analysis
- High spatial resolution imaging and analysis of nanostructures
- Solid samples
- Conductive samples yield best results, Low vacuum imaging available for non-conductive
- Maximum diameter: 150 mm
- Maximum height: 45 mm
- Vacuum stable
- SEM done by 10x / per hour: $250.00
- Rate for Specimen Prepping (per specimen): $25.00
- Data Compilation/Report Generation: $75.00
- SEM done by 10x rate per hour: $250.00
- Samples sent to 10x will be prepped and imaged at highest magnification possible for sample unless lower magnification is requested by customer.
- Upon request, imaging on your samples can be done while customer is on-site (schedule permitting.)
- Rate for Specimen Prepping (per specimen): $25.00
- Fee can be waived if specimen arrives already prepped for scanning. (It is highly recommended you contact 10x’s Microscopy lab with your questions on how to proceed with preparing your specimens, prior to sending them.)
- Data compilation/Report Generation is available of SEM images: $75.00
- Once high-resolution imaging is complete, 10x will generate a compressive report that will be sent to you in PDF format.
